What is a waste? Something the Customer doesn’t want to pay for.
To recognise waste (MUDA) you must identify the stages of the process that create value and those that do not, and understand value from the point of view of the customer (so as not to spend time on activities that do not offer any added value from the customer’s point of view).
The objective will therefore be to maximise the proportion of added value activities, while removing waste and reducing incidental activities.
